Ali's not-so finest moment

So.......You may have heard by now that I fell while at the skating rink last Sunday. I would like to say that I was skating, I would like to say that some bratty kid ran me down....but I literally was on my feet about 6 seconds when I fell. And I fell HARD. I have never experienced that kind of pain...broke out into a cold sweat and the world went black for a few seconds. My pride was on point and I managed to get up, laugh with everyone, and hide my pain until we made it home. I knew something was wrong. I debated about urgent care, but decided to ice it and see one of my therapists on Monday AM. After looking from across his desk, my Rehab Director suggested I see one of the ortho guys upstairs. I had an MRI, x-rays, and saw one of my surgeons and he quickly diagnosed a fractured femur at first glance. Sent me immediately to a Sports Medicine friend of his that same afternoon. The final diagnosis is Patella Sublexation and a Grade II MCL injury (translation - dislodged my knee cap and have a slight tear of my MCL). They have me in 2 different braces and crutches and hope that in 4 weeks, it will heal on its own. I am having physical therapy. Yesterday they put me in the pool and that really felt good until I got home. AHHHHHHHHH! Spent the rest of the afternoon on the couch with my leg elevated and iced.
Carleigh is an amazing nurse. She feels very obligated to me and is helping me dress, puts on my braces, and is taking charge of the house. She cooked supper on Monday night. I coached from the bar stools. Sadie Anne is also helpful at stealing my crutches and hiding them in another part of the house.
Neil was a little freaked out at first at what all this would mean. My dear friends at work came on Wednesday and Thursday and helped with supper, baths, and picking out clothes. He has settled down and I think we are in a routine. When my friend Teresa left on Wednesday, Carleigh said "Thank you, Ms. Teresa - I couldn't have done it without you".
I am attaching photos of me on crutches and Neil in Grandmother Jacobs' apron while helping with supper on Wednesday.
