Carleigh's 5K

Carleigh ran her first 5K today. For the past 12 weeks she has been working with an afterschool program called Girls on the Run. They ran a trial 5K a few weeks ago and she ran it in 36 minutes. They could have a Buddy run with them. Neil and our friend, Teresa volunteered. (Neil might not have been as willing to volunteer as Teresa) Today is probably the coldest day thus far in December. It was 22 degrees and gusty winds. Bitter cold...Phoo and Bobba were troopers and sat bundled up and were trying to smile and act like they were having the time of their lives. They were glad to be there and Sadie was glad too. She bundled up with Phooey and fell asleep. Bobba and I walked around to get other photos and he headed to the car to stay warm. They made 3 loops around UNC-Asheville's campus. There were over 800 girl runners and a total of more than 1000 people. The most annoying MC that we had encountered, but I assume he was a great motivator. Maybe it was more for him to stop screaming and yelling how many minutes they had been running. Carleigh finished in under 30 minutes, shaving 6 minutes off her best time. I was so proud. Photos and videos to follow.....
