Father's Day Weekend

Neil has been gone all week training in Georgia for his new position. So, the girls and I plotted all week and planned for his surprises. Neil hates surprises because he cannot keep a secret so it drives him crazy. Which we knew and was part of the plan. The girls and I made his favorite meal last night when he came home. Chicken Spaghetti and Ms. Francis' Funeral pound cake. We surprised him this AM with breakfast in bed. Egg sandwiches and bacon and a piece of pound cake. The girls had done Father's Day Art CLUES for the remainder of the day. Sadie's were a little more difficult to interpret. After breakfast, we packed a picnic and took off to Pisgah National Forest. We got in the river and hiked (mini hike). I took a photo of the scenary. I feel so blessed that all this is 25 minutes from our house. The water was SOOOOO cold, but it felt great. We got to watch a man fly fishing. Enjoyed our picnic and ended the afternoon with an ice cream cone at the base of the mountain. Sadie drew a lady bug and her version of a picnic basket. I think he finally got it. The next CLUE is Carleigh's art work...Pizza, drink, and a band. We are headed to "My Father's Pizza" in Black Mountain for dinner and then over to a local tavern for a concert. The band is called "Skinny Legs and All". The guitar player is the son of one of the radiologists that I work with. The oldest band member is 18 and the youngest is 14. They are amazing. Check them out on YOU TUBE.
An uneventful day tomorrow. After church, a roast for lunch and a Sunday afternoon nap. Neil leaves on Sunday for his final week of training, so I am sure laundry is also on the agenda.
